Lee Jun Ki Shares His Thought on Moon Lovers

Moon Lovers will soon finish its run and we are nearly to the ending. With how the story goes, it is a difficult stand actually to turn the tables around and have a totally different ratings. As I have said on my previous post, regarding Moon Lovers vs Moonlight Drawn by Clouds, it's obvious that Moonlight Drawn by Clouds surely a winning in my opinion. They have ended the drama with successful run yesterday night.

Actor Lee Jun Ki recently posed for a photo shoot with 'Singles' magazine, charming everyone with his fall-inspired outfits and gorgeous looks. During an interview at the photo shoot site, the actor discussed his thoughts on his dramas, TV ratings, and his overall acting career and some choices he has had to make.

When asked to talk about his current drama, 'Scarlet Heart: Ryeo' Lee Jun Ki admitted, "I have worries about the TV ratings." As a big drama with its original, Chinese version having had huge success, the Korean version is not doing as well in terms of TV ratings. Lee Jun Ki stated, "I feel sad. All the actors and staff worked so hard. Everyone worked so hard..."

Aside from the TV ratings, the drama is getting a lot of positive feedback, and many are praising Lee Jun Ki's acting. However, he did not make excuses, saying, "I have no regrets. As a leading role, I must have a sense of responsibility with its success, including TV ratings. As I watch this drama, I am looking for what it is lacking.

His monitoring does not end there. Lee Jun Ki says that he reads all the comments on articles related to him. He explained, "Not just my works, but I watch almost all dramas and movies that are out to analyze what people like, why certain dramas have high ratings, and why some don't do as well. It helps me be a better actor for the next work and also helps me to select scripts.

When questioned about plans to get married, he responded, "I have my priorities. I want to be settled as an actor first. It's not just about performing well as an actor. I think a lot about how I can be chosen by the public consistently...Yes, I do feel frustrated with myself sometimes too."

It's actually a good thing that Lee Jun Ki could take a step back and analyze what's going wrong with his drama comeback selection and hopefully he could make an even better selection next time. I think there is totally nothing wrong with Moon Lovers. It's just that they pick a false timing, having to run through the same time slot with most popular Love in the Moonlight. Meanwhile, with a heavy genre like this, it's better to set everything out and build a cohesive and consistent episode with how much the episode would grab attention and cut it loose.

Moon Lovers lacks much in the sense of having beautiful scenes sometimes, editing skills and the flow in the story, specially how the story can progress so far yet it was just in a moment of second. Maybe it was better if Moon Lovers was build for a 30 episodes of even more. We could get a better understanding of each character and the story would not seem to be forced too much.

Hopefully Moon Lovers will be an experience that a big budget pre-produced drama should have done better in allocating the fund on the right place, more time for editing the scenes and have a proper time to plan how the story will unfold. It's a fact that a pre-produced drama could also not doing well enough. In any case,  actors, storyline and directing play an important role for a sucess drama.
