SBS's upcoming drama for the second half year of 2016 courted big Hallyu stars, Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun to act on Legend of the Blue Sea. The drama will be based on a mermaid story from Korea's first collection of unofficial historical tales, which is an adaptation of Danish author Hans Christian Andersen’s most prized fairy tale, “The Little Mermaid.”
Jun Ji Hyun will play Shim Chung, the mermaid. While Lee Min Ho will act as the real-life figure of Kim Dam Nyeong (who returned the mermaid that were caught by fishermen back to the sea)’s son Kim Mu during the Joseon Dynasty and as genius con artist Heo Jun Jae in present day. Both of his characters will experience love with Jun Ji Hyun.
I am so curious as to how the drama will come out as Little Mermaid story is actually one of my fave dramas so far since Secret Garden used that story to depicts the relationship between the main lead. Will they have a happy ending story then? Or the mermaid will disappear and turns into bubble? But whatever the story is, Jun Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho are a huge star with hit dramas on their hand, such as My Sassy Girl, You Who Came From The Star, Boys Over Flowers and Heirs.
