Upcoming Drama: On the Way to Airport

Wednesday & Thrusday drama airing after Uncontrollably Fond on KBS2 is "Road to Airport" or "On the Way to Airport" It depicts thoughts about relationship between people. The drama begins with a question, 'Couldn't there be any decent relationship between a married man and a married woman in this world?" It is a melodrama touching your heart to deliver empathy, solace and thoughts about ultimate love to drama fans through the stories of the leading characters.

The main female lead on this drama is Kim Ha Neul. Her character is Choi Soo Ah, a twelve-year veteran flight attendant, mother of a daughter, and wife to air pilot Park Jin Seok, played by Shin Sung Rok. Shin Sung Rok adjusts his tie with a chilly glare: “A moment of weakness? I never do anything that will harm me.

She is a natural when it comes to dealing with male and female guests of all ages, but such ease at work belies her inability to properly express her own emotions. In her individual poster, Kim Ha Neul makes a Mona Lisa expression, wistfully thinking, “I wish nothing would change, from yesterday to today to tomorrow.”

Choi Yeo Jin plays Song Mi Jin, an experienced flight attendant like Choi Soo Ah, with twelve years of work experience under her belt. She has a striking sense of responsibility and professionalism, and her cool confidence is apparent from the stills. In Choi Yeo Jin’s poster, she crosses her arms, as her caption says, “Love isn’t precious and passionate for everyone.”

Jang Hee Jin portrays Kim Hye Won, a chic and elegant art curator. Jang Hee Jin looks sad and soulful in hers, which reads, “I never existed before the day you first saw me.

Kim Hye Won is married to university architecture lecturer Seo Do Woo played by Lee Sang Yoon.
Lee Sang Yoon looks deep in thought while his character quote reads, “Don’t forget this moment. Ever.”

The new teaser gives us a glimpse of Choi Soo Ah’s assuredness as a flight attendant and her uncertainty as a mother, who sends her young daughter to an international school abroad.

Her husband doesn’t think she can handle parenting, but she finds comfort in Seo Do Woo’s words; he sympathizes with her struggle of sending her daughter off and assures her that she made the right choice for her child, because his daughter also attends that school and likes it there.

Despite assuaging her guilt, it seems that he is experiencing emotional turmoil of his own as he breaks down sobbing after someone dies.

However, the expectant glances as the two leads meet at the end of the teaser hint at a relationship in which both of them become each other’s solace.

And on September 20th, 2016, at the press conference of On the Way to Airport, Kim Ha Neul makes a rating promise that she will dance TWICE's Cheer Up as a girl group and will start practicing soon.

I do wonder whether this drama will hit it big. It's Kim Ha Neul's come back after Gentleman's Dignity and I do like her acting as Seo Yi Soo there. But in this drama, she will portray a more mature woman who already has a child. It is not attracting much to me actually, because the plot seems just normal melodrama and well, I am not a fan of Lee Sang Yoon, though I have watched his drama many times before like Angel Eyes and Twenty Again. He's a good actor, sadly, my eyes are now only for Park Bo Gum <3

But taking into accounts for the competitors, Jealousy Incarnate (SBS) and Shopping King Louie (MBC), maybe this drama is for the win too. I wonder, shouldn't they put Uncontrollably Fond in late autumn rather than in Summer? I guess the production team should also consider the timing when they air the drama.

Anyway, let's check it out tomorrow!
