How to be Grateful

Today I got my visa granted and was really grateful that it was approved. But sometimes we forget how to be grateful for small things due to unbelievable expectations. So, I would like to remind all of us to set our expectations just right and always be grateful for every small things. Being grateful will change your view towards life on entirely different level. Here's how to be grateful on a daily basis:

1. GIVE THANKS EVERY MORNING

One of the very first things I do during my morning ritual is to give thanks, maybe it's a bit troublesome for a morning rituals, but do it while you are brushing your teeth or taking a bath. I am sure it is a bit weird when you only do it once or twice, but it'll become a habit after several days of practice.

2. GRATITUDE JOURNAL

After your mindfulness session, write down your positive thoughts! Keeping a journal of all of the things you are thankful for can help you keep track of and refer back to the positives in your life.

Write down your positive thoughts to further focus your attention on the subject. While you are putting the pen to paper, you have no choice but to consciously think about the words you are writing without other distracting, ungrateful thoughts.

You can journal every day after your gratitude practice, or you can come back to the journal on a regular schedule weekly or monthly.

3. STOP COMPLAINING & COMPARING

By complaining you are simply inviting negativity and pessimism back into your heart and mind. Even if something terrible will happen, avoid complaining despite the fact that it’s the normal thing to do. Every time one decides to complain, that person reinforces a negative state of mind without having a solution to the problem. The next time you find yourself frustrated, just take a few deep breaths and focus on positive things.

Besides, do not compare yourself with anyone else. The biggest challenge is to compete with your old self. Remember that!
