In the midst of waiting for Descendant of the Sun, I am attracted into a rom-com starring Jang Nara and Jung Kyung Ho (SNSD's Choi Soo Young Boyfriend - officially since 2013).
Well, the story is not about both of them, but there are a few of other casts. I am ready to laugh because One More Happy Ending seems to bring the funny in a big way. The setup and the characters are nothing new, but the execution alternates between hilarious and heart-melting, while the characters draw you in with their flaws and missteps.
The central premise of the story is on mature adults finding love again after divorce, with a few finding love even without being divorced, but the characters will be interaction in core friendship units starting with the four leading ladies playing tight knit besties. Jang Nara,Yoo Da In, Yoo In Na, and Seo In Young were formerly in an idol girl group when they were younger and have continued that close friendship into their current selves far removed from that singing and dancing in sync world.
Jang Nara and Yoo Da In are both divorced and working as business partners at a matchmaking agency helping divorcees find love again. Yoo In Na plays frumpy as a school teacher and Seo In Young in stylish as a fashion maven running an internet shopping site, with neither married and still looking for love.
The first episode tells us about Han Mi Mo (played by Jang Nara) who is dumped by her current boyfriend, a famous chef who cheats her with Go Seul Ah (played by Sandara Park from 2NE1) who is pregnant for few months, but as a top actress, Go Seul Ah doesn't want to admit to this relationship and keep rejecting the proposal from her boyfriend. Meanwhile, the reporter from Masspunch, who is actually Song Soo Hyuk (played by Jung Kyung Ho) accidentally saw Mi Mo being dumped at the restaurant and after seeing her run away from the scene, he misunderstood her for wanting to sucide.
That accidental meeting brought them closer to know each other and they found out, actually they are childhood friends who was seperated and once had a stage together as Romeo and Juliet. That stage is the worst memory of Han Mi Mo because Romeo was throwing up when he had to kiss Juliet. Because of that, Han Mi Mom claimed that everytime she dates someone, there is a fear of being rejected by throwing up when they were kissing.
Because the two of them haven't met for so long, that day, Han Mi Mo who suffers from heartache after being a divorcee, being rejected and disappointed for not being proposed, she asked Soo Hyuk to accompany her for a drink and they ended up getting drunk and the most crazy thing and I guess that will never happen is that, they brought themselves to register their marriage, bought the underwear for wedding night and totally forgot what has happened the next day they wake up completely sober. Is that common in our culture? Well, in whatever cases, that happens there and it's quite funny to see how crazy they can be.
The twist is that, Song Soo Hyuk asked his best friend, Go Hae Joon (played by Kwon Yool) to be witness for their marriage law registration. Go Hae Joon has already fallen in love with Han Mi Mo many years ago since she was a member of Angel Group. Knowing the fact that they are both drunk, wants to cancel their marriage registration and clears up misunderstanding that there is no feeling attached between Soo Hyuk and Mi Mo, he is determined to make Han Mi Mo to be his woman. Anyway, Go Hae Joon is also a divorcee who has been married with a gynecology doctor but broke up because the gynecology doctor feels Go Hae Joon doesn't love her enough.
Han Mi Mo also falls in love with Go Hae Joon's smile and super handsome face. She confessed her feeling first and then got accepted by Go Hae Joon who clears up with Soo Hyuk that Soo Hyuk doesn't have any feeling for Mi Mo. But fate speaks differently for them. She always complains about Soo Hyuk being immature for crushing her date with Hae Joon (well, not speaking how disturbing he is when Han Mi Mo and Go Hae Joon had a movie date and he appears out of nowhere only to disturb them for having a sexual night). But then, one client came to her office, speaking to her how hard it must be for raising a young boy in his early year as a student and how it feels when he doesn't know anything of raising a baby. That itself is the process of becoming mature, since you learn how to be a good father. And yeah, by hearing this reasoning, Mi Mo feels something for Soo Hyuk and Min Woo (Soo Hyuk's adorable son).
Soo Hyuk who is a childhood friend of Mi Mo, besides he also lives next door with his adorable son many times helps Mi Mo in her difficult times. He was worried about her getting sick and being gossiped by netizen for being a third party instead between Go Seul Ah and the famous chef, causing Go Seul Ah to have miscarriaged. He ends up helping her by writing the true version of why Han Mi Mo was actually the victim and Go Seul Ah is the third party, leading Mi Mo to really realize her true feeling for Soo Hyuk and finally she decides to broke up with Hae Joon. During that time, Mi Mo confessed her true feelings for being annoyed on how bad she is to Hae Joon, leading her saying "Please leave me alone" to Soo Hyuk.
Because it is hard even for Soo Hyuk, whether he should confess her true feeling to Mi Mo and broke his friendship with Hae Joon or keep his feeling alone. He decides to leave Korea and goes to US for almost three weeks, leaving Mi Mo alone to reflect on her true feeling. Then, he comes back to get together with her.

I don't know what will happen next, but I guess, there should be some triangle love in which Mi Mo is forced to show her feeling towards Soo Hyuk.

Instead Please Come Back, Mister I guess I prefer One More Happy Ending first because I have been watching it for 12 episode and if the story gets dragged out too much, there is also a possibility that I would quit watching it anymore.
But before that, my first impression for this drama, it's quiet funny to see. It almost feel the same as Drunken To Love You, a taiwanese drama played by Rainie Yang and Joseph Chang, which I know from the very beginning that both of the main OTP will end up together. It's just how it works that make it fun to watch.
Jang Nara looks younger by the years gone by. I guess she stops herself from aging and that's one of the reasons I am watching this drama because she looks so pretty, petite and adroable cute with her flawless acting and stupid look (baboo!). Her fashion is also somewhat I admire the most for her formal winter dress that looks gorgeous and super elegant style. Besides, I also love how cool and charismatic of Baek Da Jung (played by Yoo Da In) who suffers from breast cancer and wanting her husband to love her back but she acts cool whenever her husband is around her.
However, there are some points here that I would like to pick up, which is, the storyline is easily read and this kind of drama I guess won't have a high rating because it's so typical and there is no value added to it. It's so like soap operas whereby we have seen this kind of drama all the times. But, imy, overall, it's pretty entertaining and sweet enough to melt our hearts. Still worth watching it.
Anyway, after Descendant of the Sun airs, this drama has sunked deeply with only 3.8% in rating. So sad, but yeah I am rooting for DotS since it's getting more intense and I like how Song Joong Ki's direct flirting tactics to Song Hye Kyo. Besides with the amount of investment goes to DotS for its amazing location picking and pre-production, it means they give more high quality drama in terms of cinematography and background set (Santorini, Greece).
