What's So Wrong With Watching Korean Dramas?

Okay, let's be real. I not a big fan of Korean Dramas in the past, that's just too mainstream for me. Instead, I was a big fan of Taiwanese Dramas. Who should I blame this addiction to when my cousin is the one who introduced me to the drama world. It's not just my cousin, my Dad also loves Chinese Dramas, specially the historical one. But the thing is...what is wrong with watching Korean/Taiwanese/Mainland Dramas? Everytime I talked with someone for a specific episode, people would stare at me as if I was watching something sinful. Right, let's be real, who doesn't love soap operas and which country has the best drama plot ever?

Goes with the years, I should admit that Korean dramas, specially, has been improving much which can be said, the best soap operas in the world. We can just see that drama team in Korean industry are able to incorporate CGI with such effect that can be compared with International Movies, you don't believe? Just try to watch Goblin (2017) played by Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun. Besides, with such interesting plot like a romantic comedy which depicts the love of human and an alien, like My Love From Another Star starring Jun Ji Hyun and Kim So Hyun,  it is no wonder that Korean Dramas draw much attraction to the viewers because of its refreshing storyline.

If you try to compare with other country soap operas, I would definetely admit that Korean dramas were not like any other DRAMAS, with an obvious plot and ending. With harsh competition among Korean Broadcast Television and scriptwriter, the drama plot usually tends to go in such unexpected twists, though it is only on certain dramas, i.e, W:Two World played by Lee Jong Suk and Han Hyo Joo. While most of dramas can still be guessed for the ending, unfortunately, but Korean Drama tends to have a refreshing plot, nice video and cinematography and spectacular ideas for the storyline which make me to stand applause for Korean Drama industry. And, I am positive, the korean industry will keep enhancing the quality of their drama.

PROS:
1. Sometimes, korean dramas can offer much knowledge and values of the storyline
2. It helps you learn about different type of people and how to handle them
3. You get to know about a country, its lifestyle and it’s people
4. You learn a new language(though it’s not perfect but it’s better than not knowing)
5. It helps you learn how to cope up with different situations
6. It makes you cry and laugh and smile and teaches how to love someone when you think nothing is left in this world
7. You find new people(kpop/kdrama fans)and make new friends who love you so much and are always there when you need them

CONS:
1. You develop an unlimited amount of high expectation for your future husband/wife
2. You may be encouraged/convinced to become a pauper in order to attract those rich CEOs
3. You must leave your birth country in order to find your true love
4. You become a mute when it comes to expressing your feelings
5. You're under the belief that your life is more special than anyone else's, which translates to "My life is just like a K-drama romance"

I know it's true that watching too many korean dramas will make you to develop an unlimited amount of high expectation towards love. But for me personally, I watch korean dramas mostly to kill the time because it's entertaining and refreshing. It's been part of my routines and it's such a way to relieve stress. Each person has their own way to relieve stress and relax, but for me, korean drama is something I can't give up. I learnt the world from korean dramas, though I also learnt from books many times when I was in elementary school.

Many people would have said that watching k-dramas might put you under such impression that you won't find your other half because you have such a very high expectation. But hello, don't you see a lot of woman who has boyfriend/husband also watch k-dramas and they are just fine?

We all like rich, handsome CEOs who happens to fall in love with an ordinary girl and that's just a typical k-dramas. But, let's be real, how many young CEOs in the real world who can fall in love with a different social class? Again, we all like k-drama male lead, with such k-fashion, hairstyle, even their skin looks so smooth, but let's be real, what if there is a guy who stand in front of you wearing that kind of k-fashion and wear lipbalm and cosmetics? I would be scared seriously, not because I am prejudice, but I think man who wears cosmetics fits more in the drama land, not in the real world.
In conclusion, I believe that even though we are watching k-dramas, but we could still set our expectation just right and be real with the situation.

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon Thrives in Viewer Rating

The viewer ratings of “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” are growing endlessly!

According to Nielsen Korea, episode 10 gathered 9.668 percent ratings, which is 2.245 percent higher than the previous episode’s ratings, 7.423 percent.

The drama broke JTBC’s all-time high for drama ratings last week, and this week’s ratings outperformed the record-breaking number.

On March 25, the production team for “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” released the latest stills for the upcoming tenth episode. The images show Park Hyung Sik placing Park Bo Young’s hand on his chest while looking at her with a serious and sweet expression. While Park Hyung Sik has an intense look on his face, Park Bo Young seems to look surprised by his actions.

With the developments from the latest episode, many viewers are eager to see whether or not Ahn Min Hyuk (played by Park Hyung Sik) will confess his feelings to Do Bong Soon (played by Park Bo Young) in the upcoming episode.
With this development, there is NO WONDER the rating goes up drastically, because I am also melting because of his sincere gaze...Gosh, daepyu-nim why are you so addictive???
The chemistry between Ahn Min Hyuk and Do Bong Soon is trully good. I really like this male lead character, specially his good sense of humor, LOL, but when he's serious, he can be that sincere!

Suzy and Lee Jong Suk are spotted filming their new SBS drama, 'While You Were Sleeping'. They definitely make a smart-looking couple.

Currently, several photos of Suzy and Lee Jong Suk getting friendly and close at the drama set are roaming the web. It's reported that the photos were taken at a cafe in Gyeonggi-do on March 18. Suzy fixes Lee Jong Suk’s hair as they sit in a cafe, and displays a new short hairstyle. Things You Learnt Before Turning 25 y.o

There are few things which I end up learnt before turning 25 years old, which is still months to go. This might be a transition period for some of you, which you may or may not realize it. Things are not that hard actually, but sometimes requires time and acceptance:

1. It's OK to skip a night out
If you're sitting on the couch on a Sunday night and dreading even the thought of getting dressed up and meeting people at a bar, or at a party, or whatever it may be that night, don't go. There will be other nights out. You won't miss anything that important and it's perfectly okay to skip a night out. I realized that sometimes it is tiring for a whole week of work and you just want to spend a day being lazy in your room and have your own world and time.

2. It's easy to forget your motivation
Once you start working a job every day, all day, it's easy to get comfortable and forget any aspirations or dreams outside of cashing that paycheck and paying your rent. After working all day, it's so hard to find time to work on your writing or your hobbies or whatever you want to do that doesn't involve a cubicle. I find it hard to practice makeup skill while sometimes with the routines, I feel as if I am not confident enough to pursue what I dream. I know it's hard to find time, but just prioritize a time doing your hobbies. Do not expect to have a fast progress, just slowly but surely.

3. For every new social media you join, delete one you don't want any more
If you need to document every moment on Facebook and Twitter and Instagram and SnapChat and whatever app becomes popular tomorrow, you will spend your life picking filters. Have one or two main social media accounts and get rid of the rest.

4. You should know how to choose your friends wisely, and that it’s not possible to keep them all
From the day we were born until now, we have met a lot of people. Some of them stay with us through the good and the bad, while some just come around when they need something from us. It’s not possible to keep everyone; the chemistry can stray away or you might outgrow each other. That’s okay. Keep the real ones for life and you will have some amazing friendships—even if you can only count how many genuine friends you have with one hand.

5. You should know that your parents are cooler now than they were ten years ago
Back when you’re growing up, you probably used to fight and argue with your parents as much as I did. The relationship we form with our mum and dad in our early twenties is different now. Respect that they are getting older and cherish every moment you’ve got with them while they’re still here because they won’t be around forever.

6. You should know how great it is to leave home and see the world
Turning 25 means that you have probably had the opportunity to leave home or the country and see the world. You probably know by now that it feels amazing to step out of your comfort zone and experience another different culture as a whole. This experience has opened up your mind in so many ways that weren’t possible when you were younger, and you should be proud of it.

7. You should know that money can be a serious issue if not handled properly
Money is one of those thing that was not taught in school, and the only way to learn how to handle it is through experience. Turning 25 means we know how to deal with it, perhaps better than we ever did in our early twenties, and that’s a thing to celebrate.

8. You should know the meaning of responsible drinking, not just for yourself, but also for others
Turning 25 means you know your limits and you’re wise enough to stay at it. Gone are the days where you drink as though it’s the last night of your life. You should understand too that drinking responsibly does not only affect you, but the people around you, something you probably didn’t know at 21.

9. You should know that it’s okay to be single too.
Stop crying your heart out if you’re 25 and still single. You’re still awesome. Think about it, you get to meet people. You get to go out there and experience life without needing to consult anyone. And you get a whole big bed to yourself. It’s important to get to know yourself before someone steps in. That’s an experience in itself, so get out there—the whole world is waiting for you.

10. You should know that heartbreaks are painful, and what to do about them.
It doesn’t have to be about a relationship or that day you broke up with your ex and it took you 365 days to get over it. It could be a loss of friendship or someone dear to you. It could be losing lots of money or having the insurance company deny your claim. Whatever it is, we should have all experience heartbreaks in one way or another—and it is painful. The good thing is, turning 25 means we’ve gathered enough experience to learn from those painful moments. Should anything like that happen again in the future, we know what to do, even if it means lying in bed all day just to get over it.

11. You should know that life is too short to worry all the time.
Turning 25 can be quite a scary thing for some of you. You sit there, a few weeks before your birthday, thinking, “Where have all the years gone?” Let me just say that it has gone by and whether we like it or not, we can’t turn back time. So stop worrying, start loving and appreciating future moments because life is too short for unnecessary things like this.

12. You should know that confidence is sexy.
And it’s sexier than any piece of clothing item you own. Stand up tall, keep your chin up and look straight ahead of you. Your personality shines brighter than the sun.

13. You should know that it’s okay to not know everything.
There is something positive about not knowing everything—you get to learn. And learning never stops. In fact, even though we’re turning 25, the truth is, we don’t know much and there’s so much more to learn. Keep your eyes wide open, listen and try to absorb many new things every day.

14. You should know that you should NOT take things for granted.
We hear about death and loss every day. If you love someone, tell that person your true feelings. Similarly, if you really love your job, give it your hundred percent. Nothing lasts forever and you never know when it’s too late, so don’t ever take anything for granted. Now go tell your mum you appreciate her and all that she’s done!

15. You should know that rejection is the one thing in life that makes you stronger.
If you’re turning 25, it probably means something or someone has rejected you at least once in your life. It hurts, especially if it’s someone you truly love or a gig you’ve been running after since forever, but every rejection makes you a better person. Don’t dwell on it.

Yes, you are about to turn 25 (or may have already) but seriously, being a quarter of a century is really not that bad. You’ve built the base so far, now build the walls of your life and paint it with your favorite colors. Turning 25 means you’re 25 years wiser, but the learning and experiences do not stop here. Appreciate what you’ve got, make memories, live in the moment and forget about the number.

Life is not that bad after all.

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon First Impression

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon starts the airing since February 24, 2017 which is way too long for me to write the first impression. I've been reading the news for this drama, that includes their achievement for high rating right from the start. I was a bit lazy to catch up with a new drama lately due to hectic office hours. Besides, I also have to spare time for working out and doing some research for our yearly trip this year end which takes a lot of my free time.

Park Hyung Sik at High Society
I am just saying this, that I am not a big fan of Park Hyung Sik nor Ji Soo though Park Bo Young is such a great talented actress. The last time I watched Park Hyung Sik, was on High Society which he makes my heart skip a beat when he showed his abs. His character is a rich heir of chaebol group and that suits him best. However, when he starts doing Hwarang, with the theme of historical period during Goryeo with long hair character, I started to lose my interest on him which makes me skip Hwarang. But, damn, he's too HOT in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, even he makes my heart flutter every single episodes. You would definetely like it!

This drama offers a really refreshing type of storyline, like a superhero themed drama which is not only offers a serial murder case like Avengers, but also offers a romantic-comedy type of drama.
Do Bong Soon (played by Park Bo Young) was born with superhuman strength. Her strength is hereditary and passed along only to the women in her family. There is a secret that accompanies her inherited strength, should the women in Bong Soon’s family use their powers for evil and/or personal gain, then they would be punished and cursed for the remainder of their lifetimes. Bong Soon’s ancestors used her super strength to enforce imperial rule against the people in exchange for large sums of money. As punishment for her greed, she lost her powers and lived the rest of her life afflicted with leprosy.

Bong Soon's dream is to create a video game with herself as the main character. She desperately wants to become a willowy and elegant woman, which is the ideal type of her crush, In Guk Doo (played by Ji Soo), a police officer. Thanks to her strength, she gets the job of a bodyguard, to a spoiled rich heir Ahn Min Hyuk (played by Park Hyung Sik), the CEO of a gaming company (Ainsoft). Opposite of Guk Doo, Min Hyuk is an odd man who is imperious and has no regard for rules.

It all starts years back, on a dreary afternoon, high school student Ahn Min Hyuk sits in the back of a bus holding a bouquet of flowers. Suddenly, one of the tires bursts and soon the bus careens down a hill. The driver desperately tries to regain control only to discover that the brakes are broken. He swerves to the right, barely avoiding an oncoming car, but then redirects into the path of two pedestrians standing to the side of the road.

Panicking, he stomps down on the brakes as they barrel forward, then closes his eyes, unable to witness the certain horror to come. However, when he opens his eyes again, the bus has stopped in its tracks, and all remain unharmed. Out the back window, Min Hyuk notices a girl wearing a pink hoodie back away from the rear end of the bus. She turns around without revealing her face, and begins walking up the road. Min Hyuk watches the girl as she leaves, fascinated. And as if sensing his curiosity, she stops in her tracks and turns back slightly toward him, when a breeze catches the hood of her sweater and begins to peel it away from her head. Unfortunately, he can't see the girl's face.
In present, as you all know, Min Hyuk has recently received anonymous threats and even followed by an unknown person who warns him to back off from the list of heirs. When he knows the super power of Bong Soon accidently, he recruited her as his bodyguard with huge amount in exchange. Bong Soon barely refused it, though she is curious as why Ahn Min Hyuk hires a woman as his boduguard instead of a man. Gong Secretary then told her a big secret that Min Hyuk, the CEO is actually doing that to avoid rumor of being gay, which Bong Soon soon to believe that Min Hyuk is truly gay. One day, Bong Soon, Guk Doo, and Min Hyuk get caught up in a serial murder case that breaks in their neighborhood and ends up reluctantly living together for security purposes. A series of misunderstanding occur when Guk Doo mistakes Min Hyuk's affection.
Admittedly, I’m also really curious as to what Min Hyuk is doing with the whole gay thing. We obviously know that he likes women given his slow and affectionate gazes at Bong Soon (even I died with his affectionate gaze), though at this point, he could totally be bi given all the innuendo he’s throwing out there at Gook Doo. (Hawt.) He’s been called gay to his face and hasn’t bothered correcting anyone, so either it’s partially right, or he’s just having fun with the assumption. It could also be that he likes the idea that people can’t figure him out and just enjoys being a mystery. If you think about his life growing up, he lost his mother, had brothers that hated him and one brother that protected him, had a gangster father that doesn’t seem to care, and multiple stepmothers who are more inclined to drink than play parent. Then on top of that, he left home young, became a CEO of a large company, and spends most of his down time alone in a dungeon game room. It makes total sense that he’s a bit…eccentric. I’d be more surprised if he did have normal interactions with people after all that.
I had been worrying that working as a personal bodyguard for monetary gain would fall within the “abusing power” category and that Bong Soon would end up with leprosy or month-long diarrhea.  At first, she is very reluctant to work as Min Hyuk's bodyguard, but seeing how the stalker seems to really serious to kill Min Hyuk, Bong Soon then promised to him that she is going to protect him no matter what happen. And this is the first time when she decides to protect someone simply because it’s right, and she cares that evil doesn’t succeed, If it is like this, I can’t imagine her family’s curse will have a problem with that. But this story then simply reminds Min Hyuk of King Kong and the Princess story, where he identifies himself as the Princess, while Bong Soon as the little King Kong. It is such a very amazing thing for Min Hyuk that a little girl like Bong Soon has so much power. Speechlessly, he remembers the time when Bong Soon was drunk and said that it is not her fault for being strong. She was born with it. And now, with his affection towards her, he agrees to help Bong Soon to use all her power in a good way and would be glad to help her (OMO!)
Gosh, how cute are Bong Soon and Min Hyuk?! I don’t think either of them are really at the warm and mushy feeling stage yet, but their relationship is moving so smoothly and organically that it’s beautiful to watch. Not to mention squeal at. I especially enjoy watching Min Hyuk slowly falling for the mighty pipsqueak that is the awesome Bong Soon. He obviously finds her attractive (given his many “sexy” comments), but I don’t believe that’s what really drew him in. This episode highlighted that she is first and foremost a mystery to him, and he loves solving puzzles. He hired her because she fascinated him, not because he fell in love at first sight. I was really happy to learn that, because otherwise there’d be nowhere for him to go in the relationship if he loved her from the beginning. Now, we get to watch as he slowly softens towards her through the little things, like her cooking reminding him of his mother, or just watching her dance so freely. She’s becoming less of a source of entertainment and more of a person to him.
One thing I really like about this drama is when Min Hyuk marvels at how much strength is condensed in Bong Soon's tiny body, and asks if it’s some kind of super power. Bong Soon reveals that she was born this way: the strength runs in her family, passing down through the female line. Instead of being afraid of her, he accepts her for who she is and ready to help her to use her strength for something good. Which then sounds to me like he is going to help her to fulfill her dreams. A very supportive guy, wish to have one like him ~

Been very curious as how the story will turn out. It is obvious for me though that Bong Soon will surely end up with Min Hyuk (the same as what I also hope). But how is she going to do that when her long time one-sided crush is going to broke up with his girlfriend and realize that the one he really cares about is Bong Soon? Hopefully there must be something which will move Bong Soon's heart towards Min Hyuk. As I really hope a happiness for this gorgeous eccentric guy. Min Hyuk really reminds me of Kim Joo Won from Secret Garden
In terms of acting, there is no need to explain that right when I could just say that Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young chemistry are at its best? I never know that Park Hyung Sik's acting has been improving so much that I really like his leading male character here. Though I admit that Ji Soo is so masculine, but Park Hyung Sik takes a toll in my heart and mind right now, specially with his background and attitude towards Bong Soon. It really feels as if he was gazing to me instead every single episode OMG!

Notes: Bong Soon's twin brother is also quite handsome, so dun worry, you gotta be happy watching this drama. I think this drama suits spring perfectly! Gonna be the drama for the first half of the year!

Upcoming Spring Korean Drama: Third Rate My Way

KBS has finalized the next set of dramas in its weeknight lineup, filling up its schedule through June with the previously announced Third-Rate My Way (which recently confirmed leads Park Seo Joon and Kim Ji Won

Third-Rate My Way is getting the Monday-Tuesday timeslot following ajumma-comeback drama Perfect Wife, which recently kicked off to decent response, albeit low ratings. The drama features characters with unpromising futures living as side characters in their own lives: Kim Ji Won will play a young woman who’d dreamed of being a television presenter, who now works the info desk at a department store, while Park Seo Joon plays an ordinary office worker who was once a hotshot Taekwondo fighter. The show will be a youthful story of growth and romance, which sounds like it could be really uplifting and poignant, especially in the hands of two actors who are well-matched for talent and charisma.
