Interview With Park Hyung Sik About ZE:A

During a recent interview, Park Hyung Sik shared his honest thoughts about his idol group ZE:A

He began by discussing what ZE:A meant to him. "ZE:A are people whom I've known since I first came to the company, dressed in my school uniform. I'm 27 years old now, and it's been 10 years. They're just like family. Out in society, you tend to show your good side to people, but at home, you snap at your mom. When I'm with the members, I can be the real Park Hyungsik. We talk about everything, we say, 'This happened and that happened', we can tell one another, 'Drink and die', and open up our heart's secrets when we're together," he shared.

Hyungsik was then asked about ZE:A's failure to succeed as a group, answering, "Of course it would have been great if we'd done well, but I believe it was destined that way. We definitely did our best and were desperate, but it must just have been heaven's will. I think from here on is more important. But that's not to say that the time we spent up until now was for nothing. I think we all learned something from it. Such things will serve as a bigger stepping stone. If we had done well as a group, we may not be where we are now. There may be 9 of us here at this interview [instead of must me]. (Laughter). It's impossible to know the future, but just looking forward is what's important."

Finally, Hyungsik commented on his ambitions as a singer, "I still love singing, so I think I will continue to sing. I want to release a single album, and want to participate and put my own story in it. Because I want to cherish it, I want to take my time working on it. I will be able to greet [you] with OSTs for the time being."

Hyungsik also shared a story about his former group member and good friend Kwanghee!

When asked, "Do you plan on going to see him in the army?" Hyungsik said, "Right before he went in for training, Kwanghee called me 3 times, but because I was filming, I wasn't able to answer. When I saw later, I called him right away, but by then it was too late. But isn't 3 calls too obsessive? Anyway, I feel like if I go see him, I might get my hairs torn out of my head."

He continued, "But then, I have a feeling once he returns from his service, he'll say, 'Hyungsik didn't answer my calls. He's become a big actor now'. I suppose I should [go visit him] to make things right."

Meanwhile, Hyungsik recently signed on with acting agency UAA.

Upcoming tvN Drama 2016: Goblin by Kim Eun Sook

The most awaited fantasy romanceK-drama by Kim Eun Sook after her mega-hit work, Descendant of the Sun early in 2016 is Goblin, which will be aired after the run of The K2 (starred Ji Chang Wook & Im YoonA). Goblin will also be directed by PD Lee Eun Bok, who also directed Descendants of the Sun.

Gong Yoo as Kim Shin (Goblin)
Lee Dong Wook as Wang Yeo (Grim Reaper)
Goblin tells the story of a goblin, with name Kim Shin (played by Gong Yoo) who is also a protector of souls. He lives together with an amnesiac grim reaper, Wang Yeo (played Lee Dong Wook) who is in charge of taking deceased souls. They somehow end up meeting and living together, whether by fate or by a curse, and the drama follows the strange, mysterious, sad, but beautiful daily lives of those who see off the souls of the dead.

Kim Go Eun as Ji Eun Tak
Kim Go Eun will play Ji Eun Tak, a high school student who despite her painful reality, remains optimistic. She will end up falling in love with the goblin.

Yoo In Na as Kim Sun
Meanwhile, Yoo In Na and Yook Sung Jae will portray the supporting casts, as Yoo In Na will play as Kim Sun, an owner of a chicken shop; a bright and attractive girl who is loved by all men and Yook Sung Jae will play as Yoo Deok Hwa, Kim Shin's nephew; a rebellious chaebol heir.

Regarding the reason behind casting Gong Yoo as the main character, writer Kim Eun Sook stated, “I’ve always looked forward to working with him. His schedule didn’t work out so the chance of working together has always been pushed back, but I’ve wanted to work with him for a romantic comedy. I realized that he was a wonderful actor after coincidentally meeting him and talking to him, and I became more certain that he was the one who will best express the main character for ‘Goblin.’ I am thankful that he accepted our offer. I think it will be a fun experience.”

Even before Descendant of the Sun was made, the script that Kim Eun Sook has been written is Goblin. Based on European folklore, goblin is a monstrous creature, first attested in stories from the Middle Ages. They are ascribed various and conflicting abilities, temperaments and appearances depending on the story and country of origin. Goblins, which is a very common character in traditional folktales but has not been the main topic for dramas yet.

In Korea, Goblin is usually called Dokkaebi (Korean: 도깨비) is a type of demon or ogre in Korean folklore or fairy tales. They are similar to Oni. The Dokkaebi is a mythical being that appears in many old Korean folktales. Although usually frightening, it could also represent a humorous, grotesque-looking sprite or goblin. These creatures love mischief and playing mean tricks on bad people. They also reward good people with wealth and blessings. They are different from Gwisin (Korean: 귀신; Ghost) in that they are not formed by the death of a human being, but rather by the transformation of an inanimate object.

Kim Eun Sook is known for her details in each characters and the fantasy story would be on a grand level. She can always manage to connect the dots right from the start and have a grand ending. I really hope that this story might give us a new window for more creativity and knowledge.

I have no protest at all regarding the cast. Gong Yoo is known for her talented acting skill since hit movie, Train to Busan and this is going to be his first drama come back. While knowing the fact that Kim Eun Sook has power to make the lead actor to be famous not only in Korea but all over the Asia, then Gong Yoo will surely have more chance to spread his wings and fly even higher. Although I was hoping that Kim Eun Sook will choose Hyun Bin again for her next project, but well, I have no reasons for that. Hopefully the next actor she chooses is Park Bo Gum.

Lee Dong Wook has touched South East Asia with his drama in 2004, My Girl, with Lee Da Hee and Lee Jun Ki. He's a popular actor already, but so far since 2004, his drama never make it big like Descendant of the Sun because many times, it's either he choose the wrong story or wrong female lead. Yet, I have no complaints for him to play the character of Grim Reaper because this is gonna be his chance to gain more fans. Remember Jin Goo from Descendant of the Sun? He's loved by so many people for portraying a faithful and comedic Seo Dae Young.

Yet I don't like the female lead, Kim Go Eun. Maybe we can have someone better than her? She's a new actress, though I don't quite like the sight of her. She'll be compared much with Yoo In Na for her beauty. Gosh, frustrated, but there's nothing I can do. Besides, she's failed to impress me on Cheese In The Trap and I hope this time, the production team will be able to make her character to be more attractive and amazing like Ha Ji Won in Secret Garden.

It's been finalized and they are going to Canada already to shoot some scenes. With the trend of pre-production drama, it makes more sense that they are already done some works, taking into account for better productions and time for more editing time.

Let's wait together for this drama ~
