Temperature of Love Episode 1 & 2 Recap & First Impression

SBS’s newest romance drama Temperature of Love sets an easy, comfortable pace as it introduces us to a couple who struggles to get to the same “temperature” in their relationship. A successful romance takes more than attraction, and our lovers have very little in common, making their road to love look like it will be an uphill battle. But these two seem destined to disagree and bicker their way into love whether they like it or not, and who can blame them with this much chemistry crackling between them?

At a shopping mall promotional event, a chef stands on a stage surrounded by rolling cameras, deftly preparing food. Nearby, a woman pours herself a tall glass full of soju with a resolute expression on her face. She considers it for a while, but doesn’t drink it. The chef, whose name is On Jung Sun (played by Yang Se Jong), puts on an impressive performance, but as soon as he starts to speak, the director yells, “CUT!” He tells Jung Sun to show more of his personality instead of just parroting the script, telling him to ignore the writer’s words entirely, but Jung Sun disagrees.

They start the scene again, but this time he’s interrupted by the woman who had poured herself soju, Lee Hyun Soo (played by Seo Hyun Jin), who is the show’s scriptwriter. She demands that they follow the script or stop filming. The director asks if she’s written the next script, but she fires back that there’s no point to her writing something they won’t use.
The director argues that they have to be able to make edits, but Hyun Soo yells that as the writer, she should know about those edits so that the story makes sense and has continuity. They both have a point, but they’re too angry to listen to each other, devolving into screaming personal attacks in front of the entire crew and audience. The director asks if anyone on the cast and crew agrees with Hyun Soo, and she gets teary-eyed when not a single person speaks up in her defense. But just as she’s about to back down in shame, Jung Sun speaks up from the stage, saying that he’s on her side.
He steps off the stage, and Hyun Soo stares at him in disbelief. In voiceover she says, “I saw him again. It had to be a time when I’m behaving disgracefully. I never forgot about him for a second. I desperately wanted to see him again, even if by chance—my first love that disappeared at the end of my youth, at the age of twenty-nine.

Hyun Soo turns and flees, and Jung Sun runs after her.

Throwback to five years ago.
Ji Hong Ah (played by Jo Boa), Hyun Soo's friend, tries to talk Hyun Soo into joining her at a restaurant to meet someone called “Nice Soup,” but Hyun Soo isn’t interested. Hong Ah says that Hyun Soo has chatted online with him, but all she remembers is that his terrible spelling turned her off. Hong Ah hangs up when “Nice Soup,” who just happens to be chef Jung Sun, brings her food and asks grouchily why she’s here. She says she wouldn’t have to come in person so often if he had a cell phone like normal people. She invites him to come to their running club after work to meet “Jane” (Hyun Soo’s online handle). Jung Sun says that he joined the running club to run, not to socialize.
The well-dressed man, Park Jung Woo (played by Kim Jae Wook), stays at the restaurant for a long time waiting for someone. Eventually he’s joined by Joon Ha, a hoobae from college, who jokingly pretends to kneel in apology before sitting. He asks Jung Woo why he’s suddenly interested in starting a drama production company. Jung Woo says that this is just how he wants to spend the money he’s accumulated, so Joon Ha, an assistant PD, advises him that the secret is to hire good, competent writers.
When Jung Woo asks for recommendations, Joon Ha says he doesn’t know any star writers, but he does know one writer who will come running if he calls—Hyun Soo, who left a good salaried job at a big company to be a writer. But Jung Woo declines, saying that people like her aren’t realistic and he wants to produce realistic dramas.

On her bus ride home, Hyun Soo gets several texts from her sister, demanding that she stop for groceries on her way home. She snarls at her phone, then gets another text, this time from Joon Ha asking her to meet with him tomorrow. She sends back a vulgar emoji, which Joon Ha shows to Jung Woo, who cracks a smile and decides to meet her after all.
When he’s done for the day, Jung Sun takes off for home on his bike, stopping on the way to feed treats to a street kitten that’s been set up with a fancy bed. Okay, I officially love him and this scene so much. He hears a noise and turns to see a woman crouching to pick up a can of vegetables that she dropped. The woman is Hyun Soo, who gathers her things again and continues on her way. Jung Sun jumps on his bike and passes within inches of her, both of them unaware that they’re about to change each other’s lives.
When Hyun Soo lugs her heavy groceries home, she finds her sister Hyun Yi lying around watching TV. Hyun Yi gets up and digs through the groceries for the pads she demanded, ordering Hyun Soo to exchange them when they’re the wrong kind. Hyun Soo argues that she pays for all the food and does most of the chores. But Hyun Yi counters that she hasn’t been able to pay her half of the bills for several months, and this is why Hyun Soo shouldn’t have quit her cushy job at a huge company to be an assistant writer.
As her sister launches into a long, nagging lecture, Hyun Soo imagines popping the top off the ketchup and dousing Hyun Yi with it, ha. Hyun Yi calls her on it and continues her tirade, even stealing half of Hyun Soo’s dinner. Hyun Soo grits her teeth and tells herself that her sister just suffered a breakup and that she should be understanding.
That night, Hyun Soo heads to the running club meetup. While waiting for Hong Ah, she eyeballs the guy warming up next to her, who has a long, jagged scar on his upper arm with an equally long, jagged tattoo next to it. She sees the bandage on the guy’s hand and wonders if he’s in a gang.
It’s just Jung Sun, who catches Hyun Soo staring. Hong Ah and their mutual friend Won Joon join them, and it’s awkward when they’re introduced to each other as “Jane” and “Nice Soup.” Won Joon puts Hyun Soo’s phone in his pocket for safekeeping, and the run begins.
Hyun Soo is admittedly the weakest runner, gasping and struggling to keep up with the others. Despite claiming that he’s not here to socialize, it’s Jung Sun who hangs back with her when she flags, encouraging her to keep moving so she doesn’t lock up. She tells him there’s no shame in quitting, but Won Joon yells that there’s a beer in it for her if she finishes the run and she finds her second wind. She tells Jung Sun not to run behind her, that she’ll motivate herself thank-you-very-much, then she gapes when he’s all Okay, and runs on ahead. LOL.
Before long, Hyun Soo is lagging way behind, and she’s distracted by a pretty hanok house. She stops to marvel at it, and although Jung Sun sees her there, he doesn’t say anything and keeps going. But later on when her friends notice that she’s no longer with them, Jung Sun is quick to volunteer to go back for her, and he turns around.
Jung Sun grows worried when he doesn’t find Hyun Soo in the last place he saw her. She’s gotten herself turned around, distracted by things like broken streetlights and CCTV cameras, imagining possible scenarios for the murder scene in the drama she’s working on. They both wander through the streets, Jung Sun looking for Hyun Soo, and Hyun Soo looking for anything familiar. She gets spooked again by a drunk man in an alley, and Jung Sun begins to grow seriously concerned when he can’t find her anywhere.

Eventually Hyun Soo stops, enchanted by a tiny flower growing out in the middle of a wall. She finds the flower’s will to survive impressive, and promises to live her life the same way. Jung Sun finds her there and breaks into a beautiful smile in relief. But then he scares her half to death when she sees his shadow sneaking up on her. In her flustered state, Hyun Soo calls Jung Sun “jagi” (which can also be a term of endearment between couples), then she backpedals and insists she didn’t mean it that way. She yells at him for teasing her, wailing that she was so glad to see him that she nearly ran into his arms.
Jung Sun seems a bit shaken by that, and he just stares at Hyun Soo as she rattles on about being lost and scared. Finally he snaps out of it and says that Hong Ah and Won Joon are waiting for them. Hyun Soo asks to borrow his phone, but Jung Sun says he doesn’t have one. When she asks why, he says he can’t afford one.
Hyun Soo points out that he’s wearing expensive running shoes and a fancy watch, but he just snaps that they obviously disagree on how to spend money. She says that she respects other people’s values, and when Jung Sun asks why she’s not respecting his values then, she points out his habit of nitpicking her words. He tells her not to nitpick his values, and they go round again until he maneuvers her right back where she started. Jung Sun grins, enjoying Hyun Soo’s annoyance, and she can’t help but smile back.
They start heading back, but it begins to rain, sparking another argument about whether you stay drier if you run faster through the rain. Jung Sun wins again, even calling Hyun Soo dumb for believing that you get just as wet either way. She asks if he’s younger than her, hoping to play the noona card, but he refuses to tell her how old he is, hee. Suddenly Jung Sun stops and asks if Hyun Soo wants him to hold her hand. Hyun Soo refuses, and he blusters that he didn’t want to run while holding a stranger’s hand anyway.
They both end up running for cover when the sky starts to pour. Jung Sun looks over at Hyun Soo as she wrings the water out of her clothes, and he’s struck by her all over again. She catches him staring, and he doesn’t even bother to hide his fascination.
Hyun Soo tries to break the tension by talking about her work, but Jung Sun asks out of nowhere, “Do you want to date?” Hyun Soo calls him crazy since they don’t even know each other, but he’s undeterred. He asks what he needs to know about her to ask her out, and admits that he’s twenty-three and has already served his army duty.
Hyun Soo interrupts him, assuming that he’s only asking her out because of her looks, but Jung Sun says very earnestly that he finds her pretty, but he doesn’t ask out every pretty woman. He swears that he’s serious, but Hyun Soo cheekily asks how he can be serious when they only met five hours ago, and have only talked for a few minutes.

Jung Sun answers that it took him one minute to decide that he wanted to be a chef. Hyun Soo counters that he’s just feeling physical attraction, but without missing a beat he says that that’s why he’s not taking this lightly, though he disagrees about the physical aspect. Charmed despite herself, Hyun Soo gives him credit for being a smooth talker, and admits that she would have fallen for him if she were younger. Jung Sun just says, utterly serious: “Then fall for me.”
When Hyun Soo asks why he wants to date her, Jung Sun says in banmal that his heart feels pulled to her. She calls him out for speaking casually, but he says that she started it, and she realizes that she didn’t even notice. Switching back to jondae, Jung Sun asks if she’s mad that he asked her out, and Hyun Soo admits that her pride is wounded at being asked out by a younger guy. He wonders what’s so great about age and says he doesn’t have the power to get any older.

She accidentally turns her ankle while walking, and Jung Sun catches her and puts her back on her feet. There’s a long, charged moment as they stare at each other, then Hyun Soo tries to pull away. But Jung Sun tightens his grip on her arms, and asks if she really doesn’t feel anything.

Hyun Soo can’t lie with him looking at her that way, so instead she asks how he can ask out a woman without even knowing her name. Hong Ah and Won Joon pull up in the car at that moment, but Jung Sun refuses to be distracted and introduces himself. He asks her name, but instead of telling him, Hyun Soo turns down his offer to date.
At lunch, Jung Woo returns to Jung Sun’s restaurant and orders the special. While Jung Sun is cooking, the chef advises him to season it a bit more, but Jung Sun disagrees and insists on serving it his way. Jung Woo tastes the dish and sends it back to the kitchen unfinished, and the disappointed chef tells him that the meal is on the house since Jung Woo didn’t enjoy it. But Jung Woo says that he actually liked it a lot, admitting that he didn’t finish it because it would’ve been a hit to his pride to gobble it up.

Over their much humbler lunch of cup ramyun, one of Hyun Soo’s coworkers hears that she’s one of the winning nominees in the writing contest that Hyun Soo entered. Hyun Soo gets a call immediately afterward, but it’s just her sister. Hong Ah stops by the restaurant and tells Jung Sun that she invited Hyun Soo here to cheer her up for not being nominated. She asks him to cook something spicy that Hyun Soo would like, but he snaps that he can’t just cook whatever he wants.
Meanwhile, assistant PD Joon Ha stops by Hyun Soo’s office and tells her that her contest entry made it to the semi-finals, adding that she’s going to meet someone special very soon. They go somewhere for drinks, where they argue over who’s more responsible for a drama’s success, writers or directors. HAHA, they’re sitting right at Jung Woo’s desk as if he’s not even there, and eventually he breaks in to offer Hyun Soo a job.
She asks why he’s offering, but she doesn’t even wait for an answer and stands to leave. She refuses to shake Jung Woo’s outstretched hand, totally leaving him hanging, and stomps out after one last withering glare at Joon Ha. Joon Ha apologizes to Jung Woo, but Jung Woo just grins and says that Hyun Soo is rude enough to be a successful writer.
Hyun Soo heads to Jung Sun’s restaurant, but she balks at the menu prices. She talks Hong Ah into leaving, promising to come back and treat her friend to lunch when she’s a successful writer. They end up at a pojangmacha instead, and Hyun Soo gets good and drunk on soju while Hong Ah furtively texts with a man who’s anxious to see her. Jung Sun is supposed to come meet them, and he shows up just as Hong Ah is getting picked up by her date. Hyun Soo’s not happy to see him, but Hong Ah leaves him to take Hyun Soo home, and he promises not to ask her to date him again.

She’s terrible with directions and goes to the wrong bus stop despite his suggestion that they go the opposite way. He follows her indulgently, only revealing that he also lives in the same neighborhood after she’s gotten them way off track.
A bit more sober now, Hyun Soo finally tells Jung Sun her name. She says sadly that it sounds like a boy’s name, and Jung Sun counters that his name sounds like a girl’s. Hyun Soo starts talking about writing, and how she thought she’d become a writer quickly because she’s always succeeded before.
Getting teary-eyed, Hyun Soo sobs that she loves Yeouido, and that she wanted to win that writing contest and dance in Yeouido Park. She says that she feels like a moth that flies into a fire knowing it will die: “But I still want to go into that fire.” Jung Sun listens thoughtfully, then he takes Hyun Soo’s hand and pulls her to her feet.
Jung Sun takes Hyun Soo to Yeouido Park and tells her to practice her victory dance. She calls him crazy and he smiles, and they both stand there for a long moment. With a look of wonder in her eyes, Hyun Soo takes a single step towards Jung Sun.

COMMENTS
What a sweet beginning. I really love the leisurely, simple feel of the world Temperature of Love set up and the way it introduced its characters. Nothing felt rushed, yet we got a good introduction established and managed to set our leading couple on a romantic journey that looks like it will be as heart-tugging as it is contentious. So far, so good.

After I saw these two on Romantic Doctor Kim, I ever wished there will be triangle love between them and Yoo Yoon Seok, but I got better one! These two become the main lead and it turns out that he and Seo Hyun Jin have fantastic chemistry—these two just light up the scene whenever they’re together. To give credit where it’s due, I think Seo Hyun Jin is one of those actors who creates chemistry with whomever she’s paired with, but this match-up feels special. I like the way that Jung Sun and Hyun Soo can clash one moment, then the next moment is charged with so much attraction that I feel like I should look away and give them some privacy. Their bickering nearly gives me whiplash, but you can feel their interest in each other even as they’re fighting for the upper hand. It’s like every little disagreement is their way of sizing the other up and taking their measure, and then they both grin like they like what they see, and I can’t help but be drawn in. It’s a way of getting to know one another that I haven’t seen in a drama before, and I like how each of their interactions feels charged with several emotions at once.

I really like this concept of the two people in a couple being at different “temperatures,” different places in their relationship, and getting a second chance to do things over. And I can already feel some of the issues that are going to cause Hyun Soo and Jung Sun problems the first time around, because they’re just such wildly different people. He’s driven and professional, while she’s impulsive and flighty. Jung Sun is very precise in the way he expresses himself, while somehow still managing to be disarmingly earnest, and Hyun Soo tends to blurt out every thought that crosses her mind. It’s true that opposites attract, and you can see why these two would find each other fascinating, because they see in each other something that they don’t possess. But such divergent personalities are naturally going to clash a lot, and although they find each other attractive now, they’re already establishing a pattern of bickering that can quickly become a serious relationship issue.

I really like they way Jung Sun and Hyun Soo are characterized—neither of them is a typical drama “type” that we’re used to seeing. Jung Sun is very reserved and self-possessed, always in control of himself even in the face of aggressive opposition, but he’s also unafraid to follow his feelings on a whim and see where they take him. And Hyun Soo, who seems like a free spirit who lets her temper run away with her and takes the time to notice the small moments of beauty in life, is oddly reserved and protective of her emotions. I like how complex and unpredictable they both are, but their ways of approaching things are so very different, it’s easy to see how they’re going to have trouble getting on the same page emotionally. Watching them meet again in the present and work to overcome these differences is going to be a lot of fun.

I’ve been burned more often than usual lately with dramas that started out strong, with talented casts and interesting premises, that just couldn’t keep the promise that their first few weeks made. But I think that Temperature of Love has everything going for it, and every excuse to be great. Aside from the star-studded cast, from the leads all the way down to small supporting roles, I really like that the story keeps things simple, with just a few mysteries to make us wonder what surprises may be in store. In particular, I’m interested in what plans Jung Woo has up his sleeve, both for Jung Sun and for Hyun Soo. And the way the scenes are shot is very interesting, with creative use of light and angles. I particularly like how certain beats between Hyun Soo and Jung Sun shift to black and white for a few seconds, as if to punctuate that these are the pivotal moments that matter, no matter how small and insignificant they may seem now. It’s obvious that the writer and director love the story they’re setting out to tell, and I can’t wait to see how they tell it.

Upcoming Drama: Temperature of Love

It's been reported that Park Hyung Sik would not star in the upcoming drama, Temperature of Love. And the main lead was given to Yang Se Jong with opposite cast would be, Seo Hyun Jin!

I find the new posters for SBS’s upcoming Temperature of Love gorgeous, and I’m equally excited to see Seo Hyun Jin (Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim) and Yang Se Jong (Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim) share the screen again. I can’t exactly pinpoint the reason why, but the promo material for this show is giving me major tonal flashbacks to KBS’s On the Way to the Airport, which coincidentally started its run around the same time last year. The stories don’t resemble each other at all, but maybe it’s the warm, fall-inspired colors, or the contemplative mood of the posters and teasers. Besides with the last story whereby they did not end up together, I would be very happy to see them both being the main lead. Even though Yang Se Jong is a new actor, but his acting skill is very good!

Temperature of Love will depict the love story between a screenwriter and a chef as they fall in love, separate, and reunite to find out whether they can find the perfect temperature of love together. Even just from their couple posters, I feel like they have romantic chemistry in spades. The posters of them enjoying each other’s company in the rain are accompanied by the tagline “We met an era in which love is difficult. But, we love anyway.”

In Seo Hyun Jin’s character poster, she says, “I think, and think, and think again. That’s why I lost love.” Yang Se Jong shows his passion for his work as his quote reads, “There’s nothing fun about ranking food. Because food is absolute no matter who you are.

On the other hand, Kim Jae Wook’s character seems to have a pretty severe perspective of the world: “Life is all about struggle and acquisition. No exceptions.” And I’m trying really hard not to go into this show already disliking Jo Boa’s character, who says, “This world exists for me. People exist as small existences for me.

I also quite like Jo Boa (The Man Living in Our House) and Kim Jae Wook (Voice) as second leads as well (though his turn as a chaebol serial killer in the OCN thriller was so good that I might find Kim’s restaurateur character unintentionally sinister). All four leads are featured in an ensemble poster of them on a rooftop, as well as individual character posters, where we get a small quote to reflect their personalities. I do really like the one of them all together, which reads, “To you, who is unaware that now is the brightest moment. To us, who live in the today where love is difficult.”

As fall is now setting in, I’ve been looking for a good romance melo to get into, and this show sounds like the perfect candidate. Temperature of Love will follow currently airing Falsify on Mondays and Tuesdays starting September 18 on SBS.

Kang Ha Neul Swept in Dating Rumor With IU

Kang Ha Neul’s agency has spoken up about dating rumors involving IU that arose after the actor met up with her ahead of his enlistment.

On September 10, a source from his agency firmly denied any romantic involvement, saying, “It’s true that he met up with IU, but they are not dating. They are just close friends, ever since they worked together on [‘Scarlet Heart: Goryeo’].”

Prior to this statement, it was reported that Kang Ha Neul and IU were spotted at a cafe together on September 10, just one day before his enlistment. One news outlet had claimed that they were wearing “couple-like” coordinated outfits, and reported about how he was spending his last day as a civilian with the singer.

Meanwhile, Kang Ha Neul will be enlisting on September 11 in order to fulfill his mandatory military requirement. Even though they did not end up together in Scarlet Heart: Ryeo, but if the rumor is true, I would be very happy! Indeed happier than her previous boyfriend scandal LOL.

Kim Eun Sook's Upcoming Dramas: Mr. Sunshine

Hey, I am back to drama world!!! I just can't believe it that While You Were Asleep is gonna aired soon and here we are towards the end of 2017. Believe it or not, after a spectacular run of Secret Garden (2010), A Gentleman's Dignity (2012), The Heirs (2013), Descendant of the Sun (2016), Goblin (2016), Kim Eun Sook is gonna treat us to another melodrama about a soldier in Japanese Era and based on the rumor, the drama will air in the latter half of 2017, which possibly in early 2018.

Kim Eun Sook announced that the synopsis is complete and script work has begun for her new drama, a period piece set at the turn of the twentieth century, titled Mr. Sunshine. The drama is set in 1900 to 1905, and tells the story of a soldier in the righteous army falling in love with an aristocrat’s daughter. It begins in 1871 when the hero boards an American military ship as a little boy during the Shinmiyangyo, a U.S. military expedition to Korea that resulted in a battle. He lands in the U.S. and then years later returns to Korea as an American soldier, to the country that abandoned him. While stationed in Korea, he’ll meet and fall in love with a nobleman’s daughter.

The term “righteous army” refers to Korea’s long history of commoners taking up arms to protect their country against foreign invaders, dating back to Goryeo. The righteous army made a comeback in 1895 to 1905 as Japan imposed more and more control over Korea, and eventually became the backbone of the independence movement’s guerilla militia during the Japanese occupation.

Kim Eun Sook explained, “It was a subject I’ve been wanting to write about for a long time… It’s not the story of independence fighters, but righteous armies. They aren’t recorded in history, but they’re stories we ought to know.” About covering a less common time period (most dramas and films set in that era tend to take place in 1910 to 1945, and make use of the set featured in Gaksital), Kim said, “There are sets of the Japanese occupation period, but there are no locations that exist for early 1900. We have to build the sets, and in order to do that, I have to hurry up and write the script. The synopsis is out and I’ve begun scriptwriting.”

Kim will be reuniting with PD Lee Eung Bok, with whom she made her last two massive hits, Goblin and Descendant of the Sun. Gosh, I just can't wait for her penwritting style. But, guess, who's courted to be the cast??

Male Main Lead: Lee Byung Hun

The production company commented, “There are a lot of things to prepare for this drama, so we wanted to get the casting done right away. Our writer, Kim Eun Sook, told us that she wanted the male lead to be someone who is experienced in acting and is good at speaking English, so Lee Byung Hun was a perfect fit. We are very excited to work with him.”

I don't know whether I should be happy or not, but Lee Byung Hun has many scandals and well...he is old already T_T but yeah, I believe Kim Eun Sook will make it big, so let's see how capable she is of changing my perception towards Lee Byung Hun.

Female Main Lead: Kim Tae Ri

She was born in 1990, which is way too young to be compared to Lee Byung Hun! But this girl has been gaining a lot of praises for her acting. As she is casted as the main lead, I am curious as how good she is able to portray a nobleman's daughter. I believe when she is casted in such a famous production like this, her career will go even higher. Congrats to the fresh actress!

Main Cast: Yoo Yeon Seok

Congrats for Yoo Yeon Seok for hitting it big! Actually I was hoping Park Bo Gum will be selected but well, doesn't really matter since Yoo Yeon Seok is also a good choice. I like him so much in Romantic Doctor, Kim. So hopefully he will stay the same, a romantic type of a guy!

Supporting Cast: Byun Yo Han

Byun Yo Han will play a warm-hearted character who appears to be an immature playboy.

A Good Kind of Love

What is love? It's a word that we normally hear from day to day basis. But, what is the meaning? Do you really understand what it means? For me, I don't know. I am not sure what it is because I never feel a kind of love towards somebody. Don't get it wrong, I am talking about the kind of love between couples, not an unconditional love between parents and their child, or between family.

When it comes to love, it is a bit complicated. You would suddenly feel as if you're flying towards the sky, but within a second, you could feel out of the world. I would say it's an incredible feeling ever, though I might have experienced it just a bit. I'm not too sure, it was called love or whatever you named it, but I've never thought that such a small thing could affect my entire mood the whole day.

As much as it is physical, love is mainly psychological – we find it hard to let go of some things. Especially when those things are people who were once incredibly important to us. There are people in our lives who have had such a tremendous impact on us – the individuals who we have become – that giving up on them entirely would mean giving up on a part of ourselves.

I used to be such an idealist and hopeless romantic type - not a typical girl who will just go straight into a relationship just for the sake of having one. I used to believe in so called destiny, fateful encounter and true love. Maybe I consumed too much k-drama - well can't blame me though. But for sure, I believe a good love won't make you in pain. The right lover will never make you feel like you're doing too much, or doing too little. The energy will just flow.

There will be no excuses and reasons to make things smoothly, because if it is true love, things would just happen naturally, in a good direction. I have heard somebody said those thing to me, and somehow I believe in his word. So, do not chase people. Be you and do your own thing and work hard. The right people who belong in your life will come to you and stay.

It may seems completely just a word, as we should work hard on finding that love. But as I believe, a good love will happen naturally. If it's meant to happen, it will happen. It may not happen when you want it to, but it'll happen when you're truly ready. Just be patient for your blessings.

"And remember always, that if something is meant to be, it will be. No amount of trying, striving, and willing will work. Trust God's timing. Everything meant for your will gravitate towards you, organically. You will never need to overextend yourself for what's already yours."

"Whether the hand of destiny is pushing us in the direction or whether we are almost unconsciously moving towards a goal without understanding that we are, such love has a way of coming back."

"Because in the end when all is said and done, no matter how many times we went out of our way, how far our paths went, how many people we met, how many years it took, how many obstacles we undergone; no matter how many turns we made that produced great distance between us, even if we're halfway around the globe...true love will prevail. If they truly love you, they'll always come back."

"In due time everything falls into place. Keep the faith and keep working towards your goal. What's yours is yours and no one can stop that."

Regardless of what you believe or don't believe, when it comes to love, you need to have a bit of faith. With a bit of faith and love in your heart, miracles can happen.

40 ways to let go and feel less pain

“If you let go a little, you will have a little peace. If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace.” ~Ajahn Chah

Eckhart Tolle believes we create and maintain problems because they give us a sense of identity. Perhaps this explains why we often hold onto our pain far beyond its ability to serve us.

We replay past mistakes over and over again in our head, allowing feelings of shame and regret to shape our actions in the present. We cling to frustration and worry about the future, as if the act of fixation somehow gives us power. We hold stress in our minds and bodies, potentially creating serious health issues, and accept that state of tension as the norm.

Though it may sound simple, Ajahn Chah’s advice speaks volumes.

There will never be a time when life is simple. There will always be time to practice accepting that. Every moment is a chance to let go and feel peaceful. Here are some ways to get started:

Let Go Of Frustration with Yourself/Your Life

1. Learn a new skill instead of dwelling on the skills you never mastered.

2. Change your perception—see the root cause as a blessing in disguise.

3. Cry it out. According to Dr. William Frey II, PH.D., biochemist at the Ramsey Medical Center in Minneapolis, crying away your negative feelings releases harmful chemicals that build up in your body due to stress.

4. Channel your discontent into an immediate positive action—make some calls about new job opportunities, or walk to the community center to volunteer.

5. Use meditation or yoga to bring you into the present moment (instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future).

6. Make a list of your accomplishments—even the small ones— and add to it daily. You’ll have to let go of a little discontentment to make space for this self-satisfaction.

7. Visualize a box in your head labeled “Expectations.” Whenever you start dwelling on how things should be or should have been, mentally shelve the thoughts in this box.

8. Engage in a physical activity. Exercise decreases stress hormones and increases endorphins, chemicals that improve your state of mind.

9. Focus all your energy on something you can actually control instead of dwelling on things you can’t.

10. Express your feelings through a creative outlet, like blogging or painting. Add this to your to-do list and cross it off when you’re done. This will be a visual reminder that you have actively chosen to release these feelings.

Let go of Anger and Bitterness

11. Feel it fully. If you stifle your feelings, they may leak out and affect everyone around you—not just the person who inspired your anger. Before you can let go of any emotion, you have to feel it fully.

12. Give yourself a rant window. Let yourself vent for a day before confronting the person who troubled you. This may diffuse the hostility and give you time to plan a rational confrontation.

13. Remind yourself that anger hurts you more than the person who upset you, and visualize it melting away as an act of kindness to yourself.

14. If possible, express your anger to the person who offended you. Communicating how you feel may help you move on. Keep in mind that you can’t control how the offender responds; you can only control how clearly and kindly you express yourself.

15. Take responsibility. Many times when you’re angry, you focus on what someone else did that was wrong, which essentially gives away your power. When you focus on what you could have done better, you often feel empowered and less bitter.

16. Put yourself in the offender’s shoes. We all make mistakes, and odds are you could have easily slipped up just like your husband, father, or friend did. Compassion dissolves anger.

17. Metaphorically throw it away. For example, jog with a backpack full of tennis balls. After you’ve built up a bit of rush, toss the balls one by one, labeling each as a part of your anger. (You’ll need to retrieve these—litter angers the earth!)

18. Use a stress ball, and express your anger physically and vocally when you use it. Make a scrunched up face or grunt. You may feel silly, but this allows you to actually express what you’re feeling inside.

19. Wear a rubber band on your wrist and gently flick it when you start obsessing on angry thoughts. This trains your mind to associate that type of persistent negativity with something unpleasant.

20. Remind yourself these are your only three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it. These acts create happiness; holding onto bitterness never does.

Let Go Of Past Relationships

21. Identify what the experience taught you to help develop a sense of closure.

22. Write everything you want to express in a letter. Even if you choose not to send it, clarifying your feelings will help you come to terms with reality as it is now.

23. Remember both the good and the bad. Even if appears this way now, the past was not perfect. Acknowledging this may minimize your sense of loss. As Laura Oliver says, “It’s easier to let go of a human than a hero.”

24. Un-romanticize the way you view love. Of course you’ll feel devastated if you believe you lost your soul mate. If you think you can find a love that amazing or better again, it will be easier to move on.

25. Visualize an empowered single you—the person you were before meeting your last love. That person was pretty awesome, and now you have the chance to be him or her again.

26. Create a space that reflects your present reality. Take down his pictures; delete her emails from your saved folder.

27. Reward yourself for small acts of acceptance. Get a facial after you delete his number from your phone, or head out with friends after putting all her things in a box.

28. Hang this statement somewhere you can see it. “Loving myself means letting go.”

29. Replace your emotional thoughts with facts. When you think, “I’ll never feel loved again!” don’t resist that feeling. Instead, move on to another thought, like “I learned a new song for karaoke tonight.”

30. Use the silly voice technique. According to Russ Harris, author of The Happiness Trap, swapping the voice in your head with a cartoon voice will help take back power from the troubling thought.

Let Go Of Stress

31. Use a deep breathing technique, like ujayii, to soothe yourself and seep into the present moment.

32. Immerse yourself in a group activity. Enjoying the people in your life may help put your problems in perspective.

33. Consider this quotation by Eckhart Tolle: “Worry pretends to be necessary but serves no useful purpose.” Questioning how your stress serves you may help you let it go.

34. Metaphorically release it. Write down all your stresses and toss the paper into your fireplace.

35. Replace your thoughts. Notice when you begin thinking about something that stresses you so you can shift your thought process to something more pleasant, like your passion for your hobby.

36. Take a sauna break. Studies reveal that people who go to sauna at least twice a week for ten to thirty minutes are less stressed after work than others with similar jobs who don’t.

37. Imagine your life ten years from now. Then look twenty years into the future, and then thirty. Realize that many of the things you’re worrying about don’t really matter in the grand scheme of things.

38. Organize your desk. According to Georgia Witkin, assistant director of psychiatry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, completing a small task increases your sense of control and decreases your stress level.

39. Use it up. Make two lists: one with the root causes of your stress and one with actions to address them. As you complete these tasks, visualize yourself utilizing and depleting your “stress supply.”

40. Laugh it out. Research shows that laughter soothes tension, improves your immune system, and even eases pain. If you can’t relax for long, start with just ten minutes watching a funny video on YouTube.

It’s a long list, but there’s much left to be said! Can you think of anything to add to this list—other areas of life where we need to practice letting go, and other techniques to start doing it right now?

How to Take Things Slowly

1. Look out for key words. For phrases like I’m not ready for a relationship right now.

His actions don’t negate his words. It doesn’t matter if he invites you out with his friends or if he cooks you breakfast on the mornings he actually stays over. If he told you from the start that he’s happy living the single life and doesn’t want to settle down just yet, then you have to believe him.

You can’t make up a story in your mind about how he’s only saying that because he’s scared, because he doesn’t want to get hurt again. Maybe that’s the truth — but if he’s not ready, he’s not ready. You can’t change that fact, no matter how strong your connection is.

2. Live in the moment without putting too much focus on the future.

When he sends you a good morning text at 10 AM, enjoy that he was thinking of you on that particular day, but don’t expect him to send another sweet message tomorrow.

When he introduces you to his parents, be happy that he’s comfortable enough to show you off, but don’t daydream about spending the holidays with them and calling them your in-laws.

Try to enjoy every second that you spend with him, so when your ‘relationship’ eventually ends, you’re happy about the memories you made instead of disappointed about the future you never got to have.

3. Keep in mind that you’re still single. You aren’t in an official relationship.

It might feel like you’re betraying your almost boyfriend when you flirt with other boys, but there’s no label, which means you’re allowed to go out with whoever you want. You’re allowed to text other people until 2 AM and accept their drink offers.

If that makes your almost boyfriend uncomfortable, then he obviously has strong feelings for you, which means you can start a real relationship. You can ditch the almost.

But he can’t have you all to himself if he doesn’t want anything official. He can’t refuse to date you but get angry when you date other guys. That’s not the way relationships work.

4. Don’t take things too far.

You know how much you can handle. You know whether sleeping with him will make your feelings for him grow even deeper, if it will trick you into believing he’s the only boy in the world for you. And if that’s the case, don’t do it.

Keep texting him. Keep flirting with him. Keep doing all of the things that you’re comfortable doing. Just don’t take it a step too far and fall hard for him.

Until he gives you proof that he’s actually willing to commit to you, keep things casual.

5. Never stay with someone who makes you feel shitty about yourself.

If your almost boyfriend gives you a confidence boost because of all the compliments and kisses he gives, stay with him. But if he makes you feel even more insecure about yourself because he’s flaky and refuses to commit, then leave him behind.

Every relationship, even almost relationships, are meant to make you happier.

If you’re complaining about him every day and crying over him every night, then it’s time for you to find someone new. Someone it doesn’t hurt to love.

Sometimes You Risk and Lose

When you find out that they chose someone else to build a life with, to start an actual relationship with, your stomach turns. You feel like you’re going to throw up. Tears spring from your eyes because you don’t understand.

You didn’t see this coming. At all. So many questions race around your brain and you can’t fucking breathe because they were supposed to choose you.

They were supposed to choose you, right?

Why didn’t they? What makes her or him any better than you? What makes them different or more special than you? What did they do that sucked this person in? What magical powers do they possess that you never had?

What did you do wrong? Yesterday, everything was perfectly fine. Yesterday, he or she called and chatted with you. They kissed you and you stood on your tip toes giddy with the thought of a forever with them.

But now those butterflies have flown away. Your almost relationship has turned to dust. To nothing.
‘What if’s’ and question marks dance around your mind and you can’t bring yourself to calm down. You see the text or the picture or the relationship status change, and you want to scream but no sound ever comes out.

You feel defeated. Like you lost the game. Like you lost someone who you could’ve fallen for. Like you lost a part of you.

You sit on your apartment carpet floor trying to figure it out. Trying to know when they started pulling away from you. Trying to figure out what the hell you did to make them go for someone else. Trying to understand what went on in their heads when they decided to be official with someone else.

You still don’t know how it happened.

You call your best friends screaming at the phone. You call your other friends because you don’t know what else to do other than cry on the floor. You feel pathetic. You feel so dumb. So naive. So stupid. You call your mom. She doesn’t have any words of wisdom, so you hang up and cry some more.

You feel like the time spent with this person was a complete joke. Like it was a waste of your time. How did they play you so well? Why did they do it? Just to hurt you? Just to make a statement?

But then your best friend tells you that he kind of sucked anyway. He smoked too much weed. He was too sarcastic. He wasn’t even that cute. He wasn’t nice to all your friends. He always seemed sketchy.

You roll your eyes, but a tiny part of you agrees.

Maybe you were blinded by lust or love or whatever. Maybe you just wanted to feel something for someone because it had been so long. Maybe it’s for the best. Maybe these two people belong together. Maybe he or she never liked you anyways. Maybe they just thought you were pretty. Maybe they just thought you were cool for a couple of weeks.

Or maybe this is just some twisted, fucked up learning experience. Maybe this is just what you needed. To get you out of your daydream. To get you back into the real world.

I don’t know if there’s anything to learn from this, truth be told. It stings. It hurts. You feel like you are worthless. But let me tell you something, you are lovable. You are worth more than this person.

You are worth someone who gives a shit.

And this person clearly never did.

"Sometimes you risk and lose, and THAT'S PERFECTLY OKAY" - Anonymous

I just wanted to tell you this one important thing. It's okay to cry every once in a while, but life must go on. Past can only be a past. At least you still have yourself to love.

Cheers.

7 Ways To Build Your Confidence In Your 20s

Confidence is not the easiest quality to wear every day when you're facing the complexities of the world. We need it though, so we can get through life as gracefully and original as possible. Don't sleep on the impacting results of wearing and conquering the art of confidence. Practicing confidence in early adulthood will make you a trailblazing pioneer once you reach your 30s. You might be wondering exactly how to build your confidence in your 20s, so that you're living life to the fullest years down the line. It won't happen overnight, especially since we all experience digressing ourselves into what's simply expected at times.

Confidence is the solution to feeling entrapped by societal expectations. The world would be so boring if we were all the same, am I right? The trick about confidence is that we all wear it a little bit differently and give it our own definition. It's an innovative term that anyone can be privy to if they're trying to change their perspective of themselves. Confidence is not being cocky, it's being content with the amazing human being you have the potential to be every single day of your life. So, here are seven ways to build up your confidence in your 20s.

1. Experiment With Different Styles

Again, confidence can definitely be seen and has a lot with how you view yourself. Experimenting with different styles and finding one that works for you is the first step for you to walk confidently anywhere you go. Styles may come and go, but your comfort should always be something that remains.

2. Add Self-Love To Your Daily Routine

Whether you have to read morning quotes about loving yourself or literally say it in the mirror when you wake up every day, expressing self-love is a must. Establishing a dedicated love and respect for yourself will allow you to accept nothing less from the world. Confidence starts with you, and love needs to be part of who you are.

3. Be Straightforward About Your Feelings

Being confident means not shying away from feelings that need to be addressed. If you're feeling them rationally, then why not get them out? Being direct about emotions doesn't make you mean or a bleeding heart; it makes you real.

4. Don't Compare Yourself To Other People

Everyone is different. Literally if you have to say that a million times, please do. The world is beautiful because of how different we are from the next person. You can be your own mural and still admire other paintings.

5. Accept Things That You Cannot Change

Accepting that there are times when you will not be able to control every situation is building your confidence. You're letting the universe unfold how it's supposed to and have assurance that you can handle whatever you're handed. Acceptance of unmanageable situations is your key to peace of mind.

6. Enjoy Your Own Company

If you enjoy your own company, it's likely other people will too. You know what you have to offer a person when you're comfortable with your own company. Clearly, you're awesome.

7. Establish Your Own Definition Of Happiness

Confidence and happiness walk hand in hand. If you have one, you likely have the other. Once you've found and cherish your own definition of happiness, you can face anything confidently. Confidence really is something you have to build over time, but it's never too late. Life in your 20s can be the stepping stones so your 30s are a walk in the park.

Trust God & Always Have Faith

With constant and routines activities, it is easily to lose yourself in the process. You would suddenly have no idea what you want to achieve or where you would want to go. And it happens to me at the moment, to be exact. I've been feeling so lost - not only in my goals & dreams, but also losing myself. It's weird to be honest, to question myself who I am everyday, why I changed to be someone else, what happened to me and why I can't recognize my old self anymore?

Back to two months ago, people around me would always say that I should stop my obsession towards K-drama and I did it. It's so obvious that I rarely updated this blog - for the past two months I tried to keep my addiction as minimum as I could. The only thing I watch is, Running Man and one or two drama series.

It's hard at first but I tried to distract myself towards something else. I've been following Game of Thrones Season 7 pretty consistently and I love it though the reason behind it was not purely because of the story. Besides, I've hit the gym pretty regularly for the past two months but, I still feel something's missing. I feel as if I am not the one I used to know, with my tendency to overthink and over-analyze something, I would always feel anxious, worried and not in the state of peace - and I don't like seeing myself in that situation. I don't know what but I feel as if I am losing myself in the process. Thinking about future and uncertainty makes it really hard for me to move forward.

At first, I would think that's all because of the hormonal cycle, but when it keeps repeating regularly every month, I would always question the healthiness of my mental state. Sometimes I thought maybe I have some mental problems. But I am not, "it's totally normal to have such feelings. And that's okay to feel lost sometimes. What's important is how you get back being yourself." that's what the girls used to say to me. Well, I don't really talk about this to that many people as I am pretty private. It just happened coincidentally.

I would always want to grow as a person, to always be positive and give back to the society. Sometimes, overthinking can really kill my soul - even when I tried to believe in God's plan, I would still feel anxious, depressed and emotionally not stable. I would always question why this or that thing happened, why half of my friend are getting married and half are still drunk, why I couldn't let go certain emotion, curiosity and temptation.

It gets worse when I am on my period - as the mood swings seems pretty severe. I could suddenly cry without any reasons and tears would just keep falling down. Even, I thought I've reached my limit already. Well, after a good cry, things felt much lighter and I would suddenly think positively. It keeps repeating every month for the past two months. It's funny right - but google is my medication, blogging is my cure and I would re-read what I've written for the past two years.

As I went back to certain phase in my life, I realize the pattern, I have gone through the same phase and I am actually quite normal. There is nothing wrong with me, it's just I lose myself temporarily.
Here's how to be back being your old self:

A. You do not need anyone to be happy. You, being yourself, is amazing.

"You are beautiful just the way you are."

"Until you make peace with who you are, you'll never be content with what you are. - Doris Mortman"

"Live in such a way that if anyone speak badly of you, no one would believe it."

We tend to forget how to appreciate ourselves, for who we are or what we have.
We would always find something to justify and get other people to validate us. But, let me tell you, you do not need anyone to feel content about yourself. Happiness comes from within, not from anyone nor anything. You should be happy being your best version of yourself.

B. Do not compare yourself to others

Each and everyone has their own race. It works on their specific time zone. People around us might seem to be ahead of you, and some might seem to be behind you. Just relax, and focus on your own race. God is good all the time, He has His own perfect timing for you. Better be late than have things fall apart, right?

C. Have faith & Learn to Let Go

So, what we can do is to have faith & trust and hopefully with a little bit of pixie dust, everything will work out magically;

"When you let go, you create space for better things to enter your life. - Buddha"

"Pray and let go. Do not try and manipulate or force the outcome. Just trust God to open the door at the right time. - Anonymous"

"Let the universe works its magic on you as you can't force things to happen. - Anonymous"

"Sometimes, the best things you can do is, not think, not wonder, not imagine, not obsess. Just breathe, and have faith that everything will work out for the best."

"There's time and place for everything. There's no need to rush, or force things when what's meant to be will always be."

Maybe I had written this in the past but I never really believe it. But for sure, 2 years after I wrote it, my life surely is way better. God has perfect plan for me and I believe in it. Had it never because of God, I would never be able to let it go (you know it yourself, lish!)

This time, I would like to remind myself again to really trust in God's plan. Let go, do not force things and the right door will be open at the right time. Sometimes, you just need to trust the Lord with all your heart and believe things would eventually work for the best.

Cheers!

Hospital Ship To Court CNBLUE's Kang Min Hyuk Alongside Ha Ji Won

I’m so excited for Ha Ji Won’s (The Time I’ve Loved You) return to dramas that I almost felt a visceral tug of happiness seeing her in this first teaser for Hospital Ship. She plays an experienced surgeon who ends up having to leave her job due to public ruination. She lands on a hospital ship that journeys to remote access islands to provide medical care, and relearns how to become an empathetic doctor.
It’s hinted in the teaser that being a physician aboard the hospital ship perhaps isn’t the most coveted assignment. Ha Ji- Wn’s voiceover begins, “It was everyday work, more familiar than breathing,” as we see her scrubbing up for a surgery. In contrast to her voluntary presence on the ship, Kang Min Hyuk’s (Entertainer) character is a military doctor assigned to the ship. Relaxing on the deck in a lounge chair, he tells his two friends, “If you can’t avoid it, enjoy it.”

He’s the warm, compassionate internist whose personality and attitude toward care is completely opposite from Ha Ji Won’s results-oriented, cold efficiency. He asks why she came onboard the hospital ship, and another voice speculates that she chose the hospital ship so that one day she could recover her status and return to her place in society.
She says that on the hospital ship, Kang Min Hyuk is the only one who can keep up with her quick hands in surgery. So already, there’s a good rapport there. The text onscreen says: “The adventure log of youthful doctors working toward becoming real doctors, toward living real lives. Prescribing with sincerity.”

At the end, however, we see Ha Ji Won tormented with self-guilt: Defensively, she asks what the patients were doing until they died under her hands. Is she referring to her earlier downfall or will there be another tragic case when she’s in the islands? I can’t wait for this drama to be here already.

MBC’s Wednesday-Thursday drama Hospital Ship will begin airing on August 30, following the end of Man Who Dies to Live.

Three Things To Learn from Buddha

In the end, we should learn how to live this life as how Buddha teaches us; to let go of things not meant for you, to let go of greed and earthly desire. That's when you would reach the state of peace.

How much you loved? I think what is really being said here is that it’s important to allow love to be the basis for our thoughts, words and deeds.  We should be able to treat anyone with loving kindness, even if they are not related to us or in a relationship with us – in fact, especially if they are not. Treating people with love doesn’t have to mean letting people into our lives.  It may simply mean refraining from judging a person.  This is often harder than it looks.

How gently you lived? In my honest opinion is all about how you live your life fully. To simply live in the present, not fearing the future and do your best for the moment. To maximize each and every little time you had.

The third part talks about letting go. That’s definitely a Buddhist concept, but it’s a good one, because there are an awful lot of things in this world that we really need to let go of.  That includes, money or material possessions, social status, any other greed and jealousy. Last but not least is the earthly desire. We all had something we really want, but let me tell you "Let the universe works its magic on you as you can't force things that is not meant for you to happen."

It's something good to think about. Cheers.

How to Cope With Depression

In this era of globality, we sometimes have too much information either from the people who we meet everyday, social media, internet or any other sources. It is possible to be highly affected by having too much information, leading to depression. Depression comes from any sources and I would hope that by having this written, this would help so many people out there who's struggling with their everday life;

Being depressed can make you feel helpless. You're not. Along with therapy and sometimes medication, there's a lot you can do on your own to fight back. Changing your behavior -- your physical activity, lifestyle, and even your way of thinking -- are all natural depression treatments.

These tips can help you feel better -- starting right now.

1. Get in a routine.
If you’re depressed, you need a routine, says Ian Cook, MD. He's a psychiatrist and director of the Depression Research and Clinic Program at UCLA.

Depression can strip away the structure from your life. One day melts into the next. Setting a gentle daily schedule can help you get back on track.

2.Set goals.
When you're depressed, you may feel like you can't accomplish anything. That makes you feel worse about yourself. To push back, set daily goals for yourself.

"Start very small," Cook says. "Make your goal something that you can succeed at, like doing the dishes every other day."

As you start to feel better, you can add more challenging daily goals.

3. Exercise
It temporarily boosts feel-good chemicals called endorphins. It may also have long-term benefits for people with depression. Regular exercise seems to encourage the brain to rewire itself in positive ways, Cook says.

How much exercise do you need? You don’t need to run marathons to get a benefit. Just walking a few times a week can help.

4. Eat healthy.
There is no magic diet that fixes depression. It's a good idea to watch what you eat, though. If depression tends to make you overeat, getting in control of your eating will help you feel better.

Although nothing is definitive, Cook says there's evidence that foods with omega-3 fatty acids (such as salmon and tuna) and folic acid (such as spinach and avocado) could help ease depression.

5. Get enough sleep.
Depression can make it hard to get enough shut-eye, and too little sleep can make depression worse.

What can you do? Start by making some changes to your lifestyle. Go to bed and get up at the same time every day. Try not to nap. Take all the distractions out of your bedroom -- no computer and no TV. In time, you may find your sleep improves.

6. Take on responsibilities.
When you’re depressed, you may want to pull back from life and give up your responsibilities at home and at work. Don't. Staying involved and having daily responsibilities can help you maintain a lifestyle that can help counter depression. They ground you and give you a sense of accomplishment.

If you're not up to full-time school or work, that’s fine. Think about part-time. If that seems like too much, consider volunteer work.

7. Challenge negative thoughts.
In your fight against depression, a lot of the work is mental -- changing how you think. When you're depressed, you leap to the worst possible conclusions.

The next time you're feeling terrible about yourself, use logic as a natural depression treatment. You might feel like no one likes you, but is there real evidence for that? You might feel like the most worthless person on the planet, but is that really likely? It takes practice, but in time you can beat back those negative thoughts before they get out of control.

8. Check with your doctor before using supplements.
"There's promising evidence for certain supplements for depression," Cook says. Those include fish oil, folic acid, and SAMe. But more research needs to be done before we'll know for sure. Always check with your doctor before starting any supplement, especially if you’re already taking medications.

9. Do something new.
When you’re depressed, you’re in a rut. Push yourself to do something different. Go to a museum. Pick up a used book and read it on a park bench. Volunteer at a soup kitchen. Take a language class.

"When we challenge ourselves to do something different, there are chemical changes in the brain," Cook says. "Trying something new alters the levels of [the brain chemical] dopamine, which is associated with pleasure, enjoyment, and learning."

10. Try to have fun.
If you’re depressed, make time for things you enjoy. What if nothing seems fun anymore? "That's just a symptom of depression," Cook says. You have to keep trying anyway.

As strange as it might sound, you have to work at having fun. Plan things you used to enjoy, even if they feel like a chore. Keep going to the movies. Keep going out with friends for dinner.

When you're depressed, you can lose the knack for enjoying life, Cook says. You have to relearn how to do it. In time, fun things really will feel fun again.
