Goblin Press Conference: Scriptwriter Kim Eun Sook Got Rejected by Gong Yoo for 5 Years Long

Scriptwriter Kim Eun Sook, who wrote many hits such as 'Descendants of the Sun', 'Secret Garden', 'Lovers in Paris', 'The Heirs', and more, revealed that she has constantly been rejected by actor Gong Yoo. At the press conference for new tvN drama 'Goblin', Kim Eun Sook said, "I've been rejected by Gong Yoo for 5 years." 

She continued, "He politely rejected. I was cautious about making the offer for this drama, and I thought that I'll have to wait long but he gave me a fast response. He told me that he'll do the role if I'm okay with a goblin who's timid and fearful." 

Gong Yoo spoke up and explained, "I became afraid of dramas. It was a personal problem. This time, I met her because I wanted to give words of appreciation for continuously giving me affection. When we met, we talked, and I heard about the drama. I was able to open my heart after 2-3 hours of meeting."

'Goblin', written by Kim Eun Sook and starring Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Yoo In Na, Lee Dong Wook, and more is set to air starting December 2.

Gong Yoo is not someone I've been a fan-girling so far. Big, his latest drama might not be a huge hit in 2012. My guess is that, due to much competition and after his success in movies, Train To Busan, Gong Yoo is a little afraid to enter the drama world again. Not because of his ability, but maybe his personal problem, whether he can overcome the competition with his past character or not. 

I believe his work this time with Kim Eun Sook will bring much more surprises for him to see how much he could grow from a mere drama. I thought this is a good chance for him too. Ever since I watch him again in Train To Busan, I look Gong Yoo in different perspective,

He might not be the most handsome actor in the drama world, but he has some kind of charismatic approach and he looks great in his own way, unique in his own style and I believe he would be able to portray the gorgeous smexy Goblin.

I am glad that Kim Eun Sook choose Gong Yoo this time, though I wonder who's the next actor she would give her magic? Maybe Park Bo Gum? Or....Park Hae Jin? Should I vote again for Hyun Bin or maybe Kang Dong Won? Wouldn't it be nice to see Won Bin on screen again? 

Regarding Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun said, "Gong Yoo is like a prankster. His personality is similar to mine. Even on set, we cheerfully engage in filming while joking around."

When asked, "What support has Shin Ha Kyun (Kim Go Eun's boyfriend) showed?" she replied, "He said that dramas were fights of stamina, so he told me to make sure I take care of my health."
